Morris “Mo” Brooks is a passionate pastor, speaker, and author dedicated to helping people experience the love of Christ and walk in real freedom.
A proud Kalamazoo native, Mo has spent years investing in the city through mentorship, ministry, and community-building.
He served for six years as the Youth & Family Director at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon, licensed to preach, and later ordained as a minister. He also spent three years with Edison Chapel (now Threads Church) under the leadership of Pastor Rod and Anna Tucker, where he grew as a servant leader and deepened his understanding of relational, Christ-centered ministry.
Mo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology and a Master’s in Organizational Change Leadership from Western Michigan University. He is a Certified Gallup Strengths Coach and Eric Thomas Certified Coach, combining practical leadership tools with personal insight to help others discover and develop their God-given potential.
He is the founder and CEO of Underground Impact, LLC, where he partners with schools, athletic teams, and organizations to provide coaching, consulting, and motivational speaking that inspires lasting impact and purpose-driven leadership.
Mo is also the host of The Freedom Fighters Podcast, a platform committed to helping listeners grow in emotional, mental, relational, physical, financial, and spiritual freedom, because true freedom isn’t just personal, it’s meant to lift others too.
As the founding pastor of The Beloved Church of Kalamazoo, Mo is building a new kind of church for the city he loves, a welcoming community where people can come as they are, be loved deeply, and grow in faith and freedom without pressure or pretense. His heart is for real people, real hope, and real transformation.
When he’s not speaking or serving, Mo is enjoying life with his amazing wife and their three beautiful kids, getting buckets at early-morning basketball runs, or laughing at a comedy shows.
